Energy Never Breaks

I wrote Energy Never Breaks because I believe the human soul is light, and light is energy. Good energy, negative energy, happiness, sadness — all of it moves, and all of it has an effect on the world around us. I wanted a song that reminded people that what we give does not just stop with us. It keeps moving.

For me, energy never breaks because it keeps traveling. A word, a smile, a tear, something you create or something you do for somebody can keep affecting people long after that moment is over. You may never even see where it ends up.

That is also why I say, “take your energy back.” We have to be aware of what we carry and what we give away. You are light. You are energy. What you put into the world matters.

This song had to feel like the door opening to the album because it carries the main idea behind Energy Never Breaks. I wanted it soulful, bright and full of movement, with piano, guitar, brass, choir, sax and a strong dance pulse underneath it.

The slowdown in the middle gives the message a little room to breathe before the energy builds again. Then it comes back bigger, because that is the whole point of the song: the energy changes, but it keeps moving.
